Elevate Your Productivity

You have advanced from the very first step in productivity! Congrats! If you haven’t gotten a chance to see my earlier article on sparking your productivity, you can do so here.

At this point, you should have already established some sort of routine or daily process on your productivity journey.

But, as I mention in all my blogs, or at least most of them, productivity is an always changing path. We always need to check in and adapt to new tasks, stresses, or new technology to help us with those tasks.

So, this article is all about elevating your productivity and taking it that one step further. If you are all set and ready to get going, schedule a free 30 minute call with me!

Checking In on Your Productivity

First, let’s do a check in on your productivity. How is it going?

If you want to answer similarly to one of these:

  • “It was going well, but I am a bit overwhelmed now.”
  • “I don’t know how to adapt to this new chapter of my life.”
  • “I tried a few things, but I don’t think I am doing it right.”

Don’t stress! Remember, taking control of your productivity is as easy as 1-2-3!

Event Control

The first step is event control. You want to intentionally prepare how you are going to be productive and not just jumping in and getting started.

Again, make a list of what you need to get done. Then number then from 1 through 10 (or however many) with 1 being the most important and needs to be done first.

Focused Productivity

The second step is focused productivity. This means – NO multitasking! I too have fell into the multitasking trap, listening to a podcast while working on something. But, overtime, I felt burnt out and not getting anything done 100%. I only half listened to my podcast and did half-ass work.

In addition to the no multitasking mindset, you want to keep track of how your tasks are progressing and how fast the deadline is approaching. Time goes by quickly so making sure you staying on top of your tasks will help lower your stress.

Self-Belief

The last step is self-belief. You know the expression: “you are what you eat?” Well, it is the same with mindset.

“You do as you think.”

When you have negative thoughts about yourself or the project, you will behave negatively as well. This can lead to bad quality work or missing important deadlines.

An important way to ensure you have more positive thoughts is the reevaluation of your daily process.

Strengthening Your Productivity

Now is the time to review what you are currently doing and what is your ideal situation.

I challenge you, for 7 days (a week), do these four steps every day. You can do this every day forever, but to give a smaller achievable goal, let’s stick to 7 days.

1) Create a daily checklist of actions to take that day

2) Indicate the approximate time for those specific tasks

3) Schedule all appointments and or tasks and make sure to repeat the ones when necessary

4) Make sure to execute and adjust with realistic expectations

#4 happens at the end of the day with another 4 steps:

1) Check messages at the end of the day for anything to note for the next day

2) Review today’s actions – which are completed, in progress, or not started

3) Reschedule anything not completed

4) Create an outline list for the next day’s tasks

After 7 days of doing morning checklists and evening checklists, you will get a sense of what you are capable of on a day-to-day basis. When you set lists with realistic goals and expectations (meaning you met and complete them) it is amazing how much self-esteem and confidence you will get!
